Concluding Guidance

Let me add a few lines of instruction. First, we ought not to think too highly of the church. Second, the Lord is not bound to a specific nation or city. It could be the Lord’s will to let this nation come to ruin or to be shattered, choosing another nation in which to plant His church. He can remove the candlestick from its place, as He did in Revelation 2 and 3. Third, we are to pray more for Zion than for our nation. Zion ought to be the most important matter for us—indeed, it is infinitely better to have only water and bread with God and His Spirit than to enjoy feasts and prosperity without the Spirit. Oh, Christians, learn to be Christian, to be spiritual, to be true within.

Fourth, let us learn fully to promote the well-being of Zion in all of our actions. Do not break down with your actions what you have built up by your prayer. Fifth, reflect much on Zion’s wretchedness and frequently lament this before the Lord, for He hears the sighing of the needy (Ps. 12:5, 91:15). Sixth, surrender yourself to the Lord in such a fashion that you may be fully yielded to Him, and you will find everything in God Himself. Amen.
